People Helping People.
Driven by our mission of people helping people, over the last decade, First Tech has proudly invested over $22M into the community to support the next generation of leaders, thinkers and innovators.
Our community partners provide programs and services for children and families, ensuring they have the tools they need to learn, be healthy, and succeed.
Grants
We fund innovative solutions for children and their families. Our grants program focuses on two key areas: education and fundamental needs. Working with our community partners, our funding provides access to STEM education for underserved communities and fuels programs addressing our communities’ most urgent needs.

Education
We focus on helping underserved communities build the infrastructure and resources to think creatively, problem-solve and innovate—to succeed today and lead tomorrow. We target our support for education in three key areas:
- Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)
- Early childhood literacy
- Financial education
Fundamental Needs
We work to address our communities’ essential needs–ensuring that children and families have access to the food, housing and healthcare they need to learn, grow and thrive. We target support for fundamental needs in these three areas:
- Hunger
- Housing
- Health
Credit Unions for Kids
Nearly forty years ago, First Tech helped found Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids), a national movement benefiting children and families served at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN). This collaborative credit union effort has been a catalyst for change; funding life-saving research, innovative technology, and supportive care that ensures children have access to the best care possible when they need it most. First Tech’s family of 700,000 members, 1,700 employees, and countless community partners have provided more than $17.3 million in support to CMN over the last two decades. As financial stewards, we’ve partnered with CMN knowing that 97% of every dollar donated is applied to care for kids.
Every year in June, First Tech matches member's donations dollar for dollar to Children’s Miracle Network, doubling your impact. That means your $10 gift becomes $20, going directly to support CMN and the families they serve. Help us make the biggest difference yet this year in the lives of children!
Scholarships
For more than a decade, we’ve supported our members’ educational dreams through our scholarship program. Award recipients have used these funds to attend college, university, or career and technical programs around the world, fueling their futures and supporting the next generation of our communities.

At First Tech’s corporate headquarters in Hillsboro, our community garden helps grow locally sourced produce that is donated to Centro’s Free Food Mercado, a free food pantry.
Season of Giving
We recognize that we can only give back because of you: our members, employees, and the local communities where we live and work.
Every November, we invite our employees, members, and the broader community to engage in the shared experience of volunteering and donating to causes they’re passionate about. That’s what the Season of Giving is all about!
