We're watching out for you

We want you to feel safe banking online with us. That's why we constantly evaluate and update the tools and technologies we use to protect you, your online account information and your digital transactions. We can't talk about them all here because then the fraudsters would know too, but here are a few examples of how we watch out for you.

24/7/365 Security Operations Center

Our security team maintains and monitors our security systems around the clock to ensure that your personal information is safe and secure. We protect our systems with firewall and intrusion protection that block unauthorized entry 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, except for leap years of course, which means we’ll be there on day 366 too.

Web Encryption

We employ strong, 128-bit encryption for every online transaction. That means we turn your information into a coded sequence of billions of possible variations making it nearly impossible for unwanted intruders to decipher.

Audits

We undergo several annual system and security audits to ensure we're providing you a safe and secure online banking experience.

VeriSign Identity Protection

We currently use Symantec's Validation and ID Protection Service (VIP).

Falcon Fraud Detection

To safeguard your debit and credit card transactions, we've also implemented the Falcon Fraud Detection system.

Security Key

Our Security Key is an advanced way to make certain that you, and only you, gain access to your accounts and financial information.

Email Alerts

We also alert you by email anytime we receive a request to retrieve your username, reset your password, change your security preferences or contact information or perform a wire transfer. These alerts help keep you safe and notify you quickly if an important change is made to your information in Online Banking.

VeriSign Fraud Detection for Online Banking users

First Tech uses VeriSign's VIP Fraud Detection Service for members. In addition to our current security measures, as an Online Banking user, you will automatically enjoy an enhanced authentication process for your online transactions to help ensure that you and only you access your account.

This security enhancement offers you more control over your Online Banking transactions. It also enables us to comply with Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) guidelines that require financial institutions to apply enhanced authentication procedures to online transactions.

First Tech is committed to keeping your personal and financial information safe from misuse. To safeguard your debit and credit card transactions, we've also implemented the Falcon Fraud Detection system.

First Tech's Fraud Prevention System helps prevent card fraud

We might be calling you

First Tech uses state-of-the-art technology to help prevent potential card fraud. Here's how it works. Based on your previous card usage, if a card purchase appears suspicious, we'll try to contact you at home or your office to verify if you made the transaction. If someone is using your account fraudulently, we can prevent additional activity from occurring. If we call you, please take a moment to talk to our fraud investigator to verify your card activity.

Pre-Travel Check in

Please let us know if you're planning to travel. If you make purchases in areas you normally don't, you may inadvertently trigger the system. Let us know your travel itinerary in advance and we can make a note in your account. This can minimize the chances that your activity will trigger a fraud prevention alert. Call our security team from 6am to 6pm PT at 855.855.8805 or log in to Online Banking and send us a secure message with the dates of your travels and the cities/countries you'll be visiting.

Important

If our security experts call or email you, they'll never ask for your full account number; they already have that information. For your protection, never give your full account information, PIN or 3-digit code to anyone who calls you on the phone or contacts you by email, no matter how legitimate the request may sound. However, if you are the one calling the Contact Center, we may ask you some security questions; we do this to verify your identity and prevent fraud.

What is a Security Key?

First Tech is taking your Online Banking security to the next level with our Security Key. It's an advanced way to make certain that you, and only you, gain access to your accounts and financial information.

The top 3 reasons why you should use a Security Key:

  • It's the most secure way to login to Online Banking. The Security Key randomly generates security codes that are practically impossible to duplicate
  • It's easy to use. A fresh security code is just one button away
  • It's portable. Take extra security anywhere you go

With Security Key, every time you log into Online Banking, you'll be prompted to enter a random 6-digit code generated by your Security Key in addition to your user name and password. And because the key is separate from your computer, it's not susceptible to viruses or fraud.

Two types of keys: Mobile vs. Keychain

We've partnered with the VeriSign ID Protection network (VIP) to provide this industry-leading tool. There are two versions; the most convenient is an application for your smart phone. If you don’t have a smart phone, no worries. We also have a keychain version you can carry around. Get your Security Key today.
