ACTIVATE NEW CARD

Which cards are eligible for activation in Online and Mobile Banking?

All First Tech credit cards.

How long does it take for my card to be activated?

Once you complete the simple steps for activation, you'll receive a success message right away. From there, you can begin using your card and taking advantage of the other Manage Cards features.

What if I don't see my card in Online or Mobile Banking?

Please send us a secure message in the Message Center or call us at 855.855.8805.

LOCK OR UNLOCK CARD

What exactly will happen once I lock my card?

Locking your card will stop all new transactions except for recurring, pre-authorized payments and refunds. You won’t be able to make certain changes to the card when it’s locked, such as changes to your PIN, but you can unlock your card at any time in Online and Mobile Banking.

What exactly will happen once I unlock my card

You can continue to use your First Tech debit card as usual once it’s unlocked.

What if I don't see my card?

If your card is not listed below, send us a secure message or call 855.855.8805. Please keep in mind that at this time, only eligible First Tech debit or credit cards can be turned on or off. Let us know if you'd like assistance with opening an eligible account.

I see an unauthorized transaction, should I lock my card?

No, please dispute the transaction in Online Banking, we will block the card and send you a new card. We recommend you lock your card for temporarily misplacement.

Will a locked card work in my mobile wallet?

No, the card will show up in the mobile wallet, but authorizations will be declined.

TRAVEL NOTIFICATIONS

How long can my trip be?

Please keep in mind that your departure and return dates can be up to two months apart. If you’re still traveling after two months, please set up another travel notification.

How can I edit or cancel my trip?

If you need to cancel or modify the notifications, please give us a call at 855.855.8805.

Why can’t I see the travel notification I set up in online banking?

This is a functionality that is currently unavailable.

How many travel notifications can I set up?

One at a time. If you set up multiple notifications, the last one you submit will be the only one that’s active.

I am already traveling. Am I too late?

No, please submit one as soon as possible.

Is the travel notice activated immediately?

Yes.

I am traveling within the United States but outside my current residential area. Do I need to submit a travel notification?

Yes.
BALANCE TRANSFER

How long does it take to process my transfer?

A balance transfer may be received and applied to your other financial institution's account as soon as 7-10 business days; however, it can take up to 30 days. Until you receive confirmation from your other financial institution stating the balance has been paid, please continue to pay the minimum payment due on the account.

Will a balance transfer hurt my credit score?

Depending on your credit history, the results could vary.

Will I earn rewards or rebates?

No.

I am a joint/authorized user, can I process balance transfer on my card?

Yes, if you are a joint user. No, if you are an authorized user.

How can I check the status of my balance transfer request?

You can validate that the balance transfer has been sent to the other financial institution by checking your transaction history.

Can I submit multiple balance transfers?

Yes.

What are the minimum and maximum amounts I can transfer?

There is no minimum. However, the maximum amount is up to your available credit.

Is there a balance transfer fee?

No. That's one of the best things about being a part of the First Tech family.|

Can I initiate a balance transfer between First Tech credit card accounts?

No.

Where can I find my non-First Tech account number?

We recommend you locate your non-First Tech financial institution's account number on your statement. This number is required in Step 1 when you apply for a balance transfer and need to enter the external account number you're transferring the balance from. 

Where can I find my lending institution's contact information?

We recommend you locate your non-First Tech lending financial institution's information on your statement. This information is required in Step 3 where you'll need to enter the lender name and contact information during the balance transfer request process.

REPLACE CARD

Can I get a replacement card sent to a different address?

Yes, please enter a different shipping address when you request a replacement card.

Will you charge me additional fees for requesting a replacement card?

No, it's a free service. Please note that expedited shipping is extra.

How long does it take to receive the replacement card?

Normally, you'll receive your card in the mail in 7 to 10 business days, 3 to 5 days for expedited shipping.

Do I need to get a new PIN when I order a replacement card?

No, unless your new card has a new card number.

Will my new replacement card have a new card number

No, your card number will be the same, but please note that your CVV/CVC number will change.

Can I still use my current card before the new card arrives?

Yes, please continue to use your current card if you still have it, until your new card is activated.
